GH Recap 1/22: Long time no see..

Nik drops by to visit on robin. They share some cute trivialities. She brightly asks how he is, and he's surprised b/c afterall she's the new mom in a new house. She brushes this off and says she doesn't want to talk about that right now. Then she cleverly covers by saying she knows today is Emily's birthday and that's hard on him.

Credits

Emma's Palatial Estate: Nik says it's been on his mind, and he thought he was past it. That's the bummer about grief. It's so not over at the funeral. It's really moments like this, the first birthday or Christmas without someone that really makes the loss unbearable.

Corinthaus: The Basoon of Bumbling Boinks plinks merrily as Max stops Sonny from walking in on Claud and Ric in bed. Claud whispers that they are gone, and Ric hotly says his life just passed before his eyes. Then they giggle and bury themselves back under the covers.

Corinthaus: the living room, office, bar, study, dining room part. Carly has visited. They talk about Jax a bit.

Jason's Penthouse: Sam is bugging Jason to let her help him help her help Spinelli. Or something like that. Jason pauses and agrees she might be helpful, but she's no good to Spinelli if she gets herself killed.

Commercials

Jason's Penthouse: Sam babbles that she has a lost of history with Wheels...that her mom in the DA? What is she talking about? She says something like there would be a lot of fall out if he killed her? Is Sam drunk again? I loved boozy Sam, so I don't say that to be judging. Anyhow, somehow Jason does understand what she's saying, and the plan is she's going to try to get hired by Wheels. Won't someone notice that she's only had jobs for downfallen mobsters in the past year and find that fishy? Spinelli runs in and babbles something.

Emma's Palatial Estate: So Nadine is officially being thrown under the bus, just in case there was any question. Robin can tell by the way Nik sips his tea that he's dating a nurse called Nadine, but he's not that into her b/c he misses Emily. Nik says it's true. Robin starts talking about losing Stone, as she does. But she seems sad about something in the present and not just Stone, and Nik eyes her closely and asks how she's feeling now. She can only look at her lap.

Corinthaus: Sonny mumbles something about being trapped with a man with a temper. Carly smiles and says he never let his bad association with snow hurt the boys. He'd go out and build snowmen. Was he tortured by snow as well as closets as a child? I didn't know that story. Carly says he'll never change.

Claud's Room: Ric starts to get dressed, so Claud grabs his pants so he can't go anywhere. She doesn't want Sonny to catch them. Ric kisses her and says this is all a lot of fun, but she's clearly after something, so just tell him what it is.

Commercials

Jason's Penthouse: Spinelli brings a tray of food from the Foodenator 3000 shelf that all these idiots have in lieu of actual kitchens. Sam and Spinny catch up a bit. He comments that before she was the first lieutenant, and he was the visitor. But now spinelli is the one giggling over Chinese food. Sam smiles and says she thinks Spinelli is trying to get information from her.

Emma's Palatial Estate: Robin says she was very overwhelmed at first. Nik says that's normal (from what he's read about child rearing, seeing as he has spent 8 minutes with his). robin sadly shrugs and says people say it's normal. Nik does admit that he's a crappy father and that he relied too much on Emily. Oh, so great. Poor little Homer was basically being raised by Emily, and now she's dead, and his mother is dead, and you ignore him? Robin talks about missing Emily some more.

Nurse's Station: Matt does some work. Gumchewily stops up and for some reason even though they are talking about getting coffee, she looks him up and down like she's talking about licking his lolly and deep throating his stethoscope. He offers to walk her to the coffee shop, but she stares at his crotch and purrs (well, as well as a person can purr while also gnashing on gum like a cow with its cud) and says she just needs directions. And about a gallon of eye makeup remover, my guess is.

Corithaus: Carly and Sonny are bickering. Why are they even having a conversation? He says she's messy. She says to drop it, or she will talk about the freaky stuff he does in the morning. Thankfully, he agrees to drop it, so we don't have to hear about it, and I'm basically reciting the pledge of allegiance as fast as I can to clear my mind and not come with gross things Sonny's ablutions.

Claud's Bedroom: Ric and Claud tickle and frolic and run all around the room basically having a pillow fight, until she stops him and says that, no, for real her family is crazy dangerous, and he really needs to come clean. He breaks the news that he knows she fired The Rifle on Sonny's wedding day. Or maybe he said he knows Wheels did it? claud covers her face in surprise. I can't remember if she knew this or not. She does looks surprised, though.

Commercials

Claud's room: Claud stands and says she knew Krapov didn't shoot Kate. She asks how ric found out. He says he walked in on Wheels with the rifle. He exposits Wheel's plan to shoot Kate, frame the Russians, drive Sonny into Sonniness, and getting Sonny to marry Claud, gawd this show is stupid. Claud angrily says Wheels and Ric undersestimate her, and she can't believe he's kept this from her. He says it's hard to trust, and he's risking his life by telling her. Claud says she knows what he's risking, but he might as well finish. Ric agrees and says that Wheels is planning on escalating the nonsense between Jason and Sonny. Claud magically figures out that this means Sonny will kill Jason, and Wheels will kill sonny. Man, I would so love to watch the show where that actually happens!

Corinthaus: Sonny is annoyed that Carly didn't invite Robin the GIGANTIC shindig that Carly has taken all of 4 hours to plan. It's how all fundraisers happen: You wait until the day of the party, and then you invite everyone, and then you hire a chef, and then you pick a venue. Carly finally leaves, and Sonny laughs at something one of the voices in his head just said. I don't know how else to describe his odd giggle.

Jason's Penthouse: Spinelli is still mad at himself for getting hacked. Sam says he has to simply trust Jason. She thanks him for the snacks and leaves. Yes, I'm so sure Sam does a lot of between meal snacking.

GH: Jason and Patrick bicker a bit about Chucky's condition. I guess Patrick has said something that gives Carly hope, and Jason is concerned about that. Hey, Jason, why not mention that his wife has PPD? Patrick really believes in the foundation Carly has set up, and if she feels happy to help someone else with Chucky's condition, they should encourage her. Patrick asks how Robin was when she visited him. This is a really busy day for a blizzard day. Every character has been across town at least 3 times. Jason says Robin was tense.

Emma's Place: Somehow Nik has managed to bring a giant white vase as a present. Did he load that in his trunk? It's as big as Robin. Robin talks some more about Emily being crazy in love with him. He thanks her, and she says she's sorry he's hurting right now. Well, I'm not sorry, because at least he's not chasing around Gidget!

Commercials

I had to stop watching Grey's Anatomy when Denny came back from the dead, and I realized that show had actually become stupider than this one. I recapped an episode for old time's sake. But I still miss Bailey when I see her on the promos.

Jason's Penthouse: Jason comes home, and Spinelli quickly brushes off the cookie crumbs and says he was just holding the cookie jar to dust it and nervously runs upstairs. Jason asks what he's really doing, and he then he yells at Spinelli for having already been arrested for treason for hacking the FBI, and now he's doing it again. Spinelli says Jason left him no choice.

Corinthaus: claud is dressed and have some post coital coffee. Sonny says he was knocking on her door later. She says she was listening to her ear buds really loud. She stirs her coffee and licks the spoon, and all of this jitteriness causes Sonny to yell at her that he knows she's hiding something. (psst, Sonny, she's a mobster. She doesn't have to be jittery to seem like she's hiding something. It's sort of her entire nature.)

Nurse's Station: Layla giddily talks to someone on the phone that she's excited about seeing. patrick and Liz walk up and gossip about Robin a bit. Nik shows up to say he saw Patrick's new place and it's nice. He asks how Robin is doing. But then the elevator door opens and Sexy Guitar starts playing, so we know something sexy is happening. It's Gumchewily, still in her kicky beret and black (because that's how you can tell a girl is independent and good in bed...she wears a lot of black!) For some reason that will never make sense to me unless Gumchewily has an obscure form of OCD, she just remains inside the elevator, eyeing Nik curiously. Or is that sexily? Or is it independently? Hard to tell.

Emma's Place: Carly shows up to invite Robin to the benefit, but oddly, Sexy Guitar is still playing. Robin glares at Carly, adn then we hear Emma in the baby monitor. Carly easily says she can wait if robin wants to get the baby. There is nothing judging at all in her tone. It's how you'd say something if someone dropped a pile of papers, how you'd ask if they needed help. But Robin crazily over-reacts and says "what did you just say" and then she tells Carly that she's in no position to judge her on parenting.

Commercials

Emma's: Carly angrily says she just said that she'll wait while Robin goes and checks on her baby. She says the baby is now screaming her head off. Robin knows she's totally messed up and revealed a bit about her crazy feelings to someone she never should have, and she sighs, sad adn chastened.

Nurse's Station: So now this crazy chick in the beret has just gotten off an elevator, but she is now trying to get on the other elevator? This is super weird OCD. A janitor is cleaning the other elevator. Though, he's hilariously cleaning it while it goes up and down to different floors, thus bumming out everyone when he shows up, and they realize they can't get on. Johnny would be much better than this guy. Nik and Patrick gossip a bit about Robin. Nik says she seemed fine and sleep deprived. Patrick says Liz was very helpful. Liz humbly says she didn't do much. Nik says that Robin stopped by and remembered it was emily's birthday. Patrick and Liz share a sorrowful look. Meanwhile, there's this whole entire world of action going on with the elevator and Gumchewily getting on the other elevator, and then 15 patients getting on with her, and all the while, she's staring at everyone like it's all so sexy to her.

Ugly Motel Room in 1974: Some dude answers a phone to do some The Danger

Cafe Interrogate: Why would the FBI hang out in an interrogation room. Raynor angrily is on the phone saying that they have a Jack Bauerian level problem with this lost shipment, and they really, super a lot have to find it, like yesterday. Spinelli visits for some reason, because I guess he knows this is Raynor's office now. Raynor explains that the death penalty is still on the table, and Spinelli says he knows. Raynor is about to eat Spinelli's head, I think. Anyone with a third of a brain would be afraid of this Raynor person, but Spinelli still thinks he simply has to ask why he was let free. Oh, brudder. Shut, UP Spinelli. Jason obviously had to turn evidence about Sonny. Gawd. Grandma Audrey knows this, why don't you?

corinthaus: Claud continues her stupid little dance of diffusing the suspicions that are on her because she stupidly keeps watching her Jerry Probst dvd's in plain sight. She turns on the waterworks, but they are so emotionally detached, that it's almost less like she's cryign than when people fake cry, if that makes sense. She says she's afraid of her father. Sonny demands she quit talking in riddles b/c this is the most scared he's ever seen her. He says she has to tell him what's up. She gulps.

And so it goes...inaugural reflections

For the 44th time, we have peacefully changed power in our country. (well, maybe not always peacefully, if you consider that sadly several presidents became president due to an assassination, but still, not violent military coups and such)

As I watch the president and his wife walk the parade route, I think of my grandfather, a WWII vet, a chemist who handled a the water quality of a large city and who passed away a few years ago. He was bed ridden during the last years of his life. Alas, he spent much of his life like many of his fellow citizens: a bit of a racist. I cannot fathom he ever struck a man in his life, and he certainly never belonged to hate groups. He was probably mostly polite to people of color. But he also probably didn't go to a lot of civil rights marches and I know he used horrible words sometimes.

Due to an arrogant surgeon's mishandling of his broken hip, my grandfather spent several years in bed before his death. He had a live in caregiver. She has a beautifully unique name, so on the off chance one of her friends also watches GH and reads this, I'll just call her Angel. I'm frankly shocked that it's not her middle name. Oh, did I mention that Angel was black? (I won't say African-American b/c she'd tell you proudly that she considered herself a Texan-American.)

He'd throw fits and call Angel impossibly horrible names. She'd be patient and loving because she knew at his core was a good man. She knew he was just afraid or angry. She knew he had pride and hated being weak.
He never suffered. He'd awake in the night with bad dreams and call out, and she'd always get up and run to his side to calm him and coo to him. He lived as long as he did because she was so good at her job.

When he was in a better mood, he always apologized for the things he'd said, and apologized. She always accepted and said she understood. Some days he'd ask what she was reading and ask her to read to him. So they'd sit together and read from a book older than all their ancestors. They'd talk about the scripture and such.

At his funeral, good natured jokes were made about his bad temper and grumpiness. Angel gave part of his eulogy and said she didn't know that man with the bad temper that others were talking about. She knew a loving and docile man who prepared himself for his death by embracing what he'd loved about life and making peace with his faults. It may be the best lesson another person has taught to me. His white family sat humbly chastened in their pews because, unlike her, they'd mostly given up on him.

I can't help but to see the two of them as a parable of sorts about our country. There is a history of racism, and it may never entirely go away. But there is also a history of rising above racism. At our core are some faults, but along with those faults lives forgiveness and decency; love and hard work. What good is optimism if nothing bad ever happens? I know when we act from the strongest parts of ourselves, then great things are the result. I know small moments in a life can have an immeasurable impact on the world.

I am gladly a cynic, so I suppose I can't fault anyone for being cynical today. but I unabashedly resolve to keep in mind the still, sweet voice of Angel. Of the way she steadfastedly worked so lovingly and so hard; of the way she changed a life. Through her dedication, my grandfather was able to pass peacefully, no longer a racist old grump, but a loving, tender man. (don't get me wrong. He was no softy. After 9/11, he swore he'd re-enlist and do whatever required of him for our country!) I learned that change is not only possible, it's good. It just takes hard work, and lots of love and patience.

I hope, and I pray. As John McCain recently said, and I paraphrase, our president's triumph is OUR triumph. I am dedicated to our triumph, and I pray you are too!

No Recap Monday, No Show Tuesday

Sorry, folks, my schedule got turned upside down last minute. Tomorrow all ABC soaps will be pre-empted for some sort of party in Washington DC. Haven't heard much about it, so maybe I'll google later.

Happy MLK Day!

OLTL Recap 1/16: High on Life!

Sorry I missed the beginning.

Wherever it was that Tess's baby was born: Tess sobs as she tries to remember what happened to her baby. She tells Vickie and Clint that Nicki told her that she was the one who deserved to die, not Jared or Natalie. Tess said she tried to go back and save Nat and Jared, but the contractions were so strong. She said Nikki stayed with her and was strong for her. Tess drops to the ground and says Niki placed the baby on her chest, but she didn't cry. She didn't make one sound. Viki is concerned and asks what Tess is saying. Tess turns to her and sniffles that Viki knows what she's saying. Vicki gravely says there was something wrong with the baby. Tess sniffles that she doesn't think the baby was breathing.

_ess's World. Bess has Jess locked up. Jess demands to know whatever it is that Bess has been keeping from her and then to leave her the hell alone.

St. Anne's: Gigi and that cute guy who's name I forget but was a soldier and reminds me a bit of Ryan Phillipe. He talks about how he can't stop remembering Iraq and how he shot a boy. He says it's like he has two different memories, and they both seem real. Oh, I just remembered his name is Brody.

McDreary's Bar: Wes and Marty hang out. Wes feels like he keeps getting in someone's way. Marty watches McDreary, who is drinking coffee and watching her, and she breathlessly says she knows how that feels.

High School Musical High: Cole apologizes to Dillon, who I"m sure who has another name, but GOOD LUCK getting me to ever use it. Dillon says he understands. Starr and Cole bicker that Cole is so angry and he accuses her of grinding on her teacher. She emphatically says she was consoling him about losing his mother. Then she asks if he's on something and dramatically asks if he's high.

Commercials

David is still in his robes, and he angrily leaves Dorian's living room. She's dressed in a hilarious negligee. he says he ahs to leave, and she says she didn't understand and asks if he took vows. He says he did. She apologizes again and asks him to come back in and tell her all about it. he tells her he can't sit on any of her furniture b/c it would violate ..."sic sic cooo!" This he sort of sing songs, and the "coo!" part has a bit of a click at the end. He tells her this means abstinence. She gives a hilarious "really?" and he solemnly says yes. She tells him she wants to be saved from carnal knowledge. She drops to her knees and passionately begs him to be her teacher and train her. he tells her she'd have to give up everthing: pedicures, massages, hair cuts. Dorian comically uprights herself like a feeble woman. She barks dramatically and sobfully that she beseeches him to show her. Then she repeats it over dramatically "show me! Show me the way!" David calmly picks up a vase and asks her about it. She recalls buying it at auction, and that it's so rare. He drops and breaks it, and she jumps up shrieking. Gone is the solemn sounding voice she had before and she shrieks like a harpy "what did you doooooooo?"

High School Musical High: Starr demands to know if he's on steroids again. He grits his teeth and defensively says he's not. She begs him to tell him what it is. Uh, Starr, maybe it's that his mom can't remember him, or his baby is dead, or the man who raped his mom also kidnapped his mom again? Frankly, it would be really weird if Cole weren't constantly in a bad mood.

St. Anne's: Gigi tells Brody that he didn't do this. The war did this. Brody says that after what he did to her and Rex and Shane, he can't believe she still cares. Gigi smiles and says when he's feeling better in a week or two, he'll bring Shane for a visit. He thanks her for coming. Before she leaves, she tells him he's not alone. He has her and he has Wes.

McDreary's Bar: Oh, so Wes apparently saw whatever happened with the boy in Iraq. Marty asks why she doesn't tell Brody what happened. He says he doesn't want to make him feel worse. Marty says from her experience it makes it worse when someone keeps something they know about you that you don't. he says he's going to call him. McDreary swoops in while she plays pool. Why do I find him so aggravating? Is it the way he always delivers his lines by turning his head away from the person to whom he's talking? McDreary asks if she's with Wes now. She makes a shot and asks if it matters. he shrugs that it doesn't, he guesses, but he wants to know if all this is for Wes' benefit or his.

Sad, Sad house: Vicki gently sits by Tess and says that maybe she didn't hear the baby cry before she passed out b/c she was in shock. Tess sobs up a storm. Like, I would honestly watch for thunderstorms in Llanview so powerful are her sobs, and she gasps "oh, my God. I think I know what happened."

_ess's World: Jess continues to beg Bess to tell her the truth. Bess leans forward to whisper in Jess's ear.

Sad, Sad, House: Vicki gently tells Tess that she's not alone, and they will help her, so please tell them what happened. Tess just gasps little hiccupy sobs and can't bring herself to look at anyone. Bree Williamson leaves me feeling dehydrated.

Commercials.

Dorian cradles the broken pieces of the vase and laments that it was expensive and irreplaceable. David softly says "and you loved it." Dorian pulls it together and weepingly asks what is ancient Chinese art compared to enlightenment. He thanks her for the valuable lesson he learned today and they share "namaste's" and he leaves. Then she drops to the ground, with a piece of vase in each hand and does her best Scarlett and says"As God is my witness, david Viceroi, I will get you to marry me, and then when I am Mrs. David Vicerosi Buchanon, I will kick Clint and Nora out of that mansion." Then she holds the broken pieces up to the heavens and finishes "and I will take back BE!!!!!!" Love me some Dorian.

McDreary's Bar Exterior: Gigi and Wes run into each other. She gossips that Brody is still seeing the little boy, but now sometimes he remembers that the boy had a gun and other times the kid didn't, and he can't tell what's real. Wes winces at this. Gigi doesn't know how to help Brody.

McDreary's Bar Interior: Marty and McDreary oddly flirt. She offers to play pool. He suggests darts. She says b/c she's bad at darts. She says he should have never hooked up with her and then she leaves him to scowl miserably.

High School Musical High: Starr lectures Cole about drugs. he asks not to be lectured. She says she knows how he's hurting. he says she doesn't. She says they've both lost a daughter and a aparent. She wishes there was a pill that would fix it, but she knows there's not. Cole looks heavenward as his eyes fill with tears. She softly asks what he took and where he got it. He grits his teeth again and said he didn't take anything. She angrily reaches to his coat pocket and pulls out a baggie of pills. He whisperingly asks her what she wants him to say, but she looks up at him not in anger, but in utter heart break and sadness, not knowing how to help him and feeling very betrayed by the one person left she feels she can count on. (Also, in the middle of this, Dillon took something out of his desk and looked angry, guilty, sullen, remorseful about it)

_ess's World: Bess pulls away after telling Jess something. Jess stares off for a moment, with her mouth agape, not breathing. She turns to Bess finally and pleadinging says "No."

Sad, Sad House: Tess gasps "the baby!" She covers her forehead with her hands and leans on her hands, she sobs a bit as Clint gently tells her they are here and to talk to them. Vicki gently says "Tess?" But Jess looks up and says "no, it's me." She asks what Tess said about the baby.

_ess's World: Tess is back in the jail, in her floral dress. She walks slowly towards Bess and says sadly but without tears, "my baby's dead."

Commercials

High School Musical High: Cole pathetically says it's a prescription. Unless he went to Dr. Ghetto Crack, I highly doubt it. Even Starr knows this is an insulting claim. He keeps gritting his teeth and says he just needed something. Star insists this will make it works and reminds him of that last time. Unfortunately Principal Sort of Sandy Duncan walks up at this moment and asks to see what's in Starr's hand. Oh, whoops!

McDreary's Bar: Wes comes back in to take off. Marty says it's just her and McDeary. he says he doesn't know if he has enough insurance. She angrily throws darts. She goes to retrieve them, and he stands way too close and asks what she's doing: driving Nora away and hanging out with this Wes fellow. (um, because Nora is annoying and Wes is kind of cute?) Marty says she doesn't know, but good Marty only led her to Todd Manning.

_ess's World: Bess gently asks Tess not to do this. With tears streaming down her face, Tess angrily and firmly asks "was my baby born dead?"

Sad, sad house: Vicki asks Jess if she's alright. Jess snaps that she's fine and just wants to know what Tess said. Clint reassuringly says Tess didn't say anything that made sense. Tears begin to fall down Jess's face as she nods and asks, so she doesn't know the truth. She says Bess told her the truth about what happened.

_ess's World: Tess rattles her own cage and yells at Bess to tell her what happened, if her baby died. Bess succinctly answers "yes" Tess lets out howling sobs and pressed her palms against her eyes, and then lets out one of those long, silent sobs that can only send out a sob until her lungs are absolutely empty, and she needs another breath, but there is so much grief left to leave, she can only stand there and endure the sob, and brace herself on the cage until finally her brain remembers to tell her brain to inhale, so she again makes audible sobs as she fills her lungs with air again, only to start the process again.

Monastery: David sits and meditates. Dorian sits down in a turban type thing and robes, and she begins to chant as well.

High School Musical School: Cole says those aren't Starr's drugs, but Starr says Cole is lying to protect her.

McDreary's bar: Marty and John keep standing very close. She says she's selfish and self destructive. She says to herself "what the heck, go for it." then she plants a big kiss on him. I love that Party Marty still only says "heck" heh

St. Anne's: Wes visits Brody and says he should have said so sooner, but the boy in Iraq was indeed unarmed. Brody blinks at this, confused by his conflicting memories.

_ess's World: Tess has both hands gripping the cage and sniffle sobs "so, it's true, the baby died?" Bess robotically says yes, and she tried to fix it, but Tess wouldn't leave it alone. Tess asks how it happened. Bess asks if it matters. Tess swats at the cage like an enraged lioness and roars that of course it matters. Bess says it was Tess's fault.

Sad, sad house: Vicki kneels and peers into Jess's face. Jess tearfully says that Bess told her what happened that night. She says it's all her fault. Vicki lets out a little sad gasp, and holds her daughter's face to her breast and stares morosely forward.

The End

GH Recap 1/16: Careless Whisper

If you never saw the end of yesterday's show due to the heroic actions of Chesley B "Sully" Sullenberger III, who walked through the plane twice and was the last one to walk up the aisle, making sure no one was behind him...Team Sully! :

Patrick talked to Liz about his concerns about Robin. Liz tried to reassure him that it's normal for a new mom to be overwhelmed and have bad days, but Patrick thinks it's something more. (and this is where I think the writing is clumsy. I think it's too early for Patrick to be this concerned. I think Robin is smart enough that she'd be able to fool him for a much longer time. Sure, he'd be worried, but he's already basically diagnosed her PPD.)

Shawn Douglas continued to ask Maxie about her feelings for Spinelli. She told him he's her best friend and being his friend is better than a mere date with him. Spinelli shows up and Shawn Douglas meanly told him that Maxie was just saying how she'd never be more than friends with Spinelli. (it's true, but being mean to Spinelli shouldn't be the way for a guy to win her over. It should be a deal breaker.)

Sonny showed up at Jason's to tell him about his conversation with Spinelli. Sonny outright asked if Jason agreed to turn him in in order to free Spinelli. (tonight the music seems so loud, I wish that we could lose this crowd)

It is my most earnest wish that today's show ends with a montage of Jason and Sonny's finest moments while George Michael's Careless Whisper plays. The time they made snow angels; the time Sonny first made Jason pasta, and they ended up in a food fight; their first kill; their second kill; their 98th kill; that time they were trapped in the cabin with nothing but a roaring fireplace, 85 lit candles, some wine and a bearskin rug; all the times they chose the mob over the women and children in their life; the time they flew a kite on the beach.

On with the show:

Patrick is once again in the dark, oddly lit room. He tells the faceless someone that the hospital is always busy in storms. He wanted to take advantage of a lull in the storm and go see Robin and hte baby. It turns out it's Raynor who Patrick is talking to, and it appears Patrick is in Cafe Interrogate. Raynor says he understands Patrick went though an ordeal, but he needs to hear about what happened. Patrick's voice gets angry as he says he doesn't understand how he didn't see the warning signs.

PCPD Bullpen: The picture has a sepia tone to it, and Winnie is on the phone saying they don't know how many will die. She calls whoever she's talking to "sir" She says according to their records, Sonny ws in the building at the time of the incident. We hear her say "No"

as the color changes to full color, and we are watching Sonny inside his house as if we were standing on the terrace.

Titles read: 8 Hours Before Surgery 11am

Winnie finishes " there's no word on if he survived"

Corinthaus: Sonny walks to the mantle and looks at a photo of Chucky and asks how much evidence he's given to the Feds. Jason says none, but he had to make a deal with the Feds to let Spinelli go. Sonny says "so you did?" Jason calmly says he did. Sonny manages to mumble even the single syllable he says next. "good"

Credits

Emma's Palatial Estate: Robin walks in and tries to hide her defensiveness and says she's back and everything is fine. Liz says Emma mostly slept. Robin surveys the perfectly furnished and decorated house. Has Robin been gone for 72 hours? She's clearly sort of hurt that all the work is done. Because she'd be hurt if it wasn't. Because she's suffering and doesn't know why she's not elated that her dear friend did all this helpful work. Liz laughs and says she's just fast. Liz can smell the crazy, so she leaves. Robin starts to get a little bitter sounding and mocks that any longer, and Liz could have redone the aplostery. Patrick tries to steer the conversation to Robin's problems. She gets annoyed and says that for the last time, she doesn't have PPD. AND THIS IS WHY THIS STORY LINE SUCKS SO HARD. Why are they even using the term so soon?

Crimson: Shawn D continues to antagonize Maxie by mocking Spinelli. Is Shawn D just kind of stupid, or does he not really like Maxie? Maxie tells Shawn D that she was trying to be kind about this. She tells him that she will never, ever go out on a date with him. She's trying so hard to be mean, but she so clearly digs him because she's lit up like a Christmas tree. He can only tilt his head and smile dreamily at her and say her eyes are gorgeous, even when she's mean to him. He leaves, and Spinelli says Shawn D is right about there platonicness.

Wyndermere: Alexis visits Nik to talk about Plowgate and that the DOD's heart grew 3 sizes that day and decided that they'd just fight the enemy with surfboards from now on, thanks to Gidget. Alexis is concerned that Nik's getting involved with Hallifiction might be a problem. Alexis then cuts to the chase and says if Nik keeps doing these nice, big things for Nadine, she won't even notice that he's not in love with her. Thank you, Alexis! Nik tries to scoff, but true is true.

Corinthaus: Hey...what the? that was it with Sonny and Jason? So no Careless Whisper montage? Because Claud stands at the effing bar with her effing laptop listening to effing Jerry Probst. Thank heavens Ric hotly shows up. He looks so good in winter clothes. He says they had a date at Jake's. So instead of calling, he did the sensible thing and drove randomly to a place she might be. He hotly asks what has her so spooked.

Jason's Penthouse: oooooh, sorry. I apologize. Sonny and Jason are at Jason's. I totally missed they weren't at sonny's. So yay, maybe George Michael will start crooning. Jason asks if Sonny cares that the Feds have evidence against them. Sonny says he did what he needed to to save Spinelli, so now he can just give info about the Z's. Sometimes I think you have to take Charlie the Trolley to get to Sonny's world. Jason says that Sonny and the Z's are the same thing, so he needs to just cut ties with them. Sonny bellow barks "what difference does it make, the FBI still wants me. You're their best shot at securing a conviction." Then he puts on a Deniro-y face for about a beat and clobbers his arms at the air and says 'You giv th FBi evidenc' He asks if it's worth it to save Spinelli. Dude, I'm pretty much thinking Jason thinks it's worth it to save Epiphany at this point.

Wyndermere: Blatooey. so now we have to talk about Emily and the Great Magic Love whereby she sided with Sonny over him, and threw him away and then got mad when he moved on, and also did I mention that they were together because she cheated on someone in the first place? but whatever, great and enduring love. He picks up some dumb horse statue thingy and talks about it. Nik says he wants to love Nadine. Alexis laughs and says that answers that question. Nik snaps it's Emilys birthday, so get off his back. Alexis back straightens, duly chastened, and she apologizes. he softens and says it's okay, it's just a hard day.

Emma's Palatial Estate: Robin says the PPD is always the elephant in the room. Patrick gently says he's on her side, and she says it doesn't feel like it. Seh says she even went to see Jason b/c she knew he wouldn't lie and would be objective. Patrick super, duper decently and wonderful husbandly, takes a deep breath and asks what he said. Robin says that Jason said it wasn't PPD. I paraphrase her words, but I also know that's NOT what he said, and it's what Robin wanted to hear. Patrick drops his head a bit in frustration and says Jason is not a doctor and asks why she wouldn't see Lainey. Robin asks why she'd see Lainey when she isn't sick.

Crimson: Maxie says Shawn is only cute in an annoying way, and she only likes bickering. Spinelli has seen enough slapstick comedies to know that this often leads to lurve. Maxie says he's her best friend ever, and he's a billion other things: brilliant, sweet, loyal, true, accepting, even when she takes him for granted. He's wonderful and irreplaceable. She says Shawn D would only ever be good for mattress tag. Spinelli hilariously rolls his eyes in the most perfectly comical way at this, communicating how this is EXACTLY his point. Aw, Spinelli. I wish you could find a real girl! Sam shows up to talk about the Fed deal.

Jason's Penthouse: Jason angrily says he didn't give any info on Sonny, but Sonny and the Z's are the same, so any info on the Z's will be info on Sonny. Sonny whines a bit. Jason asks why Sonny can't just give up his position with the Z's. Sonny dorfusly says he's just getting started with the Z's, so no way is he going to leave.

Commercials

Wyndermere: Now see, I don't like Emily, but it's hard to miss the life flowing back into Tyler Christopher as he has some actual material to work with. Sad music plays as Nik has to catch his breath, so much does he miss Emily today. Alexis sweetly says he just needs to find a way to communicate all this to Nadine so he's not leading her on. Aw, and then the Nadine I totally loved waltzes back in and with bright eyes says she has planned the best afternoon.

Emma's Palatial Estate: Patrick keeps trying to reach Robin. She sadly asks why he keeps pushing her and asks if she did something wrong she's not aware of. Aw. That's so sad. He begins to realize exactly how patient he's going to have to be, and he apologizes and backs off. He invites her to sit with him and lovingly takes her hands and says he promises he really only came home to give her a nice surprise and be helpful. With no accusations or concerns about anything else, he sincerely tells her he loves her. Her sad little face sort of breaks my heart because clearly she logically understands that his is what she just asked for, and what she wants, but still something feels broken inside and she doesn't know how to accept it anymore.

Jason's Penthouse: Sonny says Jason took a risk by telling him about the Feds. Jason incredulously opens his arms in a shrug as if to say that he didn't know when or why they have to be enemies and says that he trusts Sonny. Sonny says that he trusts Jason and that there is a reason he joined the Z's. Jason sighs in frustration. Sonny says when Krapov was dying, he told him he didn't shoot Kate. Jason looks at Sonny in surprise. Not b/c he thought Krapov did it but b/c he begins to realize Sonny is not entirely crazy. Sonny says he started to think "who did this" Jason politely gives the answer he gave 85 years ago and says "the Z's" Sonny says he had nowhere to go, so he was forced to take over the Z's. Jason exhales dubiously, but he continues to listen. Sonny gets all crazy and excited and says Wheels thinks he, Sonny, is playing into Wheel's hands, but really, it's the other way around. Jason firmly says the problem is that Wheels is nutso.. Sonny lets his face do all kind of gymnastics and says if he does this right, he has control, shuts Wheels out, and runs it his way. Then he immediately turns off his face and paces away from Jason. Man, I love when Maurice Bernard overacts to this degree. Jason remains calm but frustrated and says he still has to give info on the Z's, so Sonny has to get out. Sonny says he's too close, and he can't. Jason says he won't be able to help him. Sonny calms himself and says they both gotta do what they gotta do. He leaves. A very nice touch, is that after Sonny goes, Jason turns and stares at Michael's photo on the mantle and his shoulders sag with the weight of it all. Superjase, maybe go snuggle up to Michael for a few hours at Whole Foods. He would like it, I think, and you, my dear, need a nap!

Commercials

Emma's Palatial Estate: robin is adorably reclined on the sofa, watching Patrick tend to Emma. She apologizes for not being home. He just wanted to surprise her with the flowers. she apologizes for snapping at him and Liz. she's truly impressed and thankful for all Liz did. She honestly admits that she's intimidated by how Liz has everything under control. Per my friend who suffered PPD, it's very easy to seem like you have it all under control, and it's almost hurtful to be told you look together, when you feel so lost. Robin surveys the house and says it looks so great. Patrick wants to take a picture of Robin and Emma. She argues a bit but then relents. But she clearly relents b/c she knows it's normal to want tons of photos. She picks up Emma perfectly and rocks and bounces her perfectly, and she smiles perfectly. But she also keeps saying "hurry. she wants her bottle" but then she adds a few more "hurry's" in there. She sounds totally panicked, but only for a split second, and then the facade immediately returns to perfect, but tired mommy. Patrick takes the photo and doesn't miss any of this, but has also learned he has to take it slower than he knows how to deal with it.

Crimson: Maxie is worried that Spinelli is only worried for Jason. Sam asks what Jason had to do, and Maxie tells him that he won't tell anyone. Spinelli is surprised that Maxie braved facing Stone Cold. Maxie says Winnie used him, and she had to find out that SPinny would be okay. She wanted to thank Jason. She really thinks they should leave it all alone. A look flashes before Sam and Spinelli, and the audience is assured that neither of these dum dums will be doing that anytime soon.

Corinthaus: Claud keeps being all briar patch about her laptop, and this is not lost on Ric. She says there's nothing up. He hotly says she's lying. She asks why he says that, and he hotly says because her lips are moving. They kiss, but are busted by Wheels.

Commercials

Wyndermere: Nadine brought cookies for a horse and baby duckies for Spencer. Alexis looks on and winces at how sweet and loving Nadine is, and how broken her heart is about to be. Alexis excuses herself. Nadine reminds the audience that Michael's Benefit is tonight, and they are all going. Nadine nootices Emily's stupid horse statue and says "you are separating the monsters?" see? so cute, this one, when she's not unbearably annoying. She sits and says she thinks she's over Alfalfa's death, and then the sadness is there. Nik muses that he knows. But then Nadine brightly smiles and says she's sorry for putting a damper on their evening. Nik solemnly asks if he can take a rain check and meet her at the benefit. She says it's no problem and says she's sure he has a business meeting. He half lies that he has a previous entry.

Jason's Penthouse: Sam whirlwinds into Jason's penthouse and says they both know Spinelli, and he has saved her life and is dear to her, and she has to know what Jason did to save him. Jason won't talk about it. She says someone cut a deal, and she assumes it was jason.

Corinthaus: Claud and Wheels bicker about whether or not she can sleep with other men. Wheels says if she wants company to pick it up off a street corner. Ric hotly says this is enough. Wheels warns Ric to know when to keep his mouth shut. Sonny saunters in asking who set up the meeting. Wheels says he's still troubled by his plans to bring Johnny home being thwarted. Sonny says Johnny has a life of his own. Wheels says his life is with his family, and Sonny is part of that family. Wheels says their deal isn't that great. He lost Johnny and a shipment. Sonny calmly purrs that just b/c he didn't jump into a war with Jason doesn't mean he doesn't have a plan. Wheels says Sonny is slow, and he's made his own moves.

Commercials

Nurse's Station: Piph and Liz talk about the storm. Shawn D shows up and says he likes storms. Liz teases that he's still very boyish. Shawn D asks to page Patrick. Piph gossips that Patrick signed out. Shawn D scoffs that Patrick brought his wife flowers. Be careful, Shawn, don't scrape your knuckles too much, Neanderthal guy. Shawn D and Liz do bond over how much he loves Emma and does think Robin is terrific. She still thinks he's kind of weird, but she manages to only give him a quarter bitchface.

Emma's Palatial Estate: Robin says she knows it's hard to balance his family life and schedule. He says he'll be okay. She says he doesn't need to take that much time off, and she'll call if she needs him. They hold each other and he says he loves them both so much, and he never thought he'd have any of this. He apologizes if he's being over protective or trying too hard. She says they are both finding their way. She laughs and says they'll keep trying until they are old and gray and visiting their grandkids. Aw. he says he loves their family. She says she loves him so much and sometimes has to pinch herself to know it's all real. They kiss and no one pulls away or looks afraid.

Corinthaus: Wheels says he's going to take back control. Sonny shrugs this is fine. Claud is suprirsed, but Sonny says it's not his decision. Wheels laughs that Sonny surprises him b/c he thought he'd go ballistic. Sonny says he's a business man and doesn't look for fights. Wheels says that Sonny just won back his position of trust. the hell? Wheels barks at Ric to follow him "so the newlyweds can enjoy each other" They leave, and Sonny angrily shuts the door and asks if she knew about this. She says she didn't and that Ric just showed up. He asks why she's so jittery. She laughs and says she doesn't know. She's never had a position in the organization before, and it feels good. She says she's on his side. He says she says a lot of things, but it doesn't make them true. She repeats herself. He says maybe she's on his side. he starts to reveal his hand a bit much and says maybe she has things she doesn't want him to know. Then he grimaces a crazy grin and says he'll find out. She is dubious that suddenly they are enemies.

Crimson: Maxie flirts with someone on the phone. Spinelli asks her about it, and she says it was Frederico, and he gives her free samples. He asks if there's anything more to it, and she says there's not, but she realizes he thinks she's a user. He says he doesn't. He says he's made such big mistakes. She says she's here for him and so is Jason. He says things sometimes get worse before they get better.

jason's Penthouse: Sam says that the feds are using his friendship with Spinelli as leverage. He paces about and looks a bit dead inside. She realizes "they are going after the big prize" and that this is about Sonny. Jason says he doesn't care about Ric, r Trevor, or Wheels, or the suppliers. he crosses to his desk and beats on it with each word "I Don't Care!" Sam says she knows he's not going to give up Sonny and asks what he's going to do.

GH Recap 1/15: D-Day

It was a nice respite for a few months, not having Emily clogging up the screen every week. I'm not looking forward to Leathercladdily. I mean, I loved it in Grease when Olivia Newton John was all "tell me about it, Stud" with here insanely teased hair and size negative 8 leather pants and red stiletto heels. But I loved it because she and Danny had finally learned that the 50's and high school is really all about eschewing your individuality and conforming to what other's want you to be. and they sang about it in a Fun House, and it was awesome. But I loved Sandy when she was a good girl, too. I never had any affection for Emily, so I don' t see how I'm going to have any just b/c she doesn't wear too much lip gloss but does wear too much eyeliner. I shall endeavor to have an open mind.

This might be good, y'all. the show starts with Monica, Shawn D and Liz in an OR, with Patrick frantically running around the hospital. shots of a clock as Pat waits for the elevator and takes the stairs. We hear Shawn D and Monica discussing the surgery. Piph hurriedly makes a phone call. Carly's face falls as she discusses something with Sonny. At the nurse's station, Rebeccaly makes a phone call, and Nik sees her and looks scared his brain tumorly is back. All the while, Patrick runs and runs up the stairs.

Looloo is worried aobut something. Johnny lays Maxie down on the ground. Spinelli grabs his coat and rushes out of the penthouse. Emma cries, and Robin throws something at a vase of roses. Kate approaches Sonny looking crazed and awesome. Patrick runs into a nurse with a cart. Rebeccily sees Nik looking at her suspicously. Kate grabs her abdomen and looks nauseous. Shawn D cuts into an artery and blood dquirts at this face. Monica begins to look faint. Patrick runs to the OR and bellows for everyone to stop. He pounds on the glass as the doctors in the OR look ill.

Credits

Why wouldn't they have planned this better so that the MC still had a chef? Carly sees the snow and gets a little teary eyed remembering that Chucky loves snow and used to say "the bigger the snow storm, the better" Jax is proud of her for putting together this benefit. Carly muses it's ironic that she used to keep the Q's away from Chucky, and now she's hitting them up for money. As per usual when a personal displays reasonable guilt, Jax tries to let her off the hook for meanly keeping them out of Chucky's life. He tells her the wait staff is pooling tips to make a donation for the charity. She's touched. She admits that Sonny called and wants to discuss details of the benefit. She asks if that's a problem. He asks what if he says yes.

Corinthaus: Spinelli visits Sonny and thanks him for taking this meeting. Sonny says "you know, I've told you this a lot, can you speak clearly and briefly adn then leave?" Spinelli does his best to not use code, but Sonny snaps that he's being neither brief nor clear. He says he doesn't want to hear about insects or anyone's master. okay, heh. Spinelli manages to say that he got Jason in trouble with the feds.

Commercials

Metrocourt: I really can't say how thankful I am that Carly's hair is pretty again. Jax says he's okay with her working with Sonny on the benefit. She appreciates his understanding, and he appreciates her honesty. He hopes there are many benefits for Chucky and other kids with head trauma. She teases that they are being very nice and polite to each other.

Jason's Penthouse: Jason is on the phone about Hallifiction's truck. He tells Bernie to send their men out to find the truck. Maxie shows up, and says she's here to see him and not Spinelli. She says he always says that, but she thinks he's glad to see her, even though he won't admit it. He sighs in frustration and stares at a spot on the floor while counting to 10. Maxie says Spinelli is afraid he let Jason down. Jason says he didn't, he was just following orders. Maxie says Spin is afraid he ruined Jason's life. Then she asks why he always has to be so quiet. Jason snaps and asks what she wants. They sit on the sofa and Maxie says Spinelli always thought of this as a big computer game, but he knows it's more dire. Jason says he can't talk about it, but Maxie asks what kind of deal Jason made. He says it's not her business.

Corinthaus: Spinelli tells Sonny he was accused of treason, and that he let his firewalls be breached. Sonny says Spin talks too much to the wrong people. Spinelli says it was one person, Winnie, the Priestess. Sonny hilariously mumbles "don't talk to me about women priests." heh. He explains he was threatened with life in prison, and all seemed lost until Stone Cold arrived. Sonny tries to translate and says Diane and Alexis couldn't do anything, but Jason could. Spinelli says all the charges were dropped after Jason showed up. Sonny asks if Jason sent him here. Spinelli says Jason told him to be quiet. Sonny angrily asks why he wouldn't do simply that. Sonny scoffs that Jason and Spinelli are friends at all. he mocks Spinelli's stutters and says he needs to take Jason's advice and be quiet. He yells that if Jason told him, Spinelli would clearly be blabbing it all over the place. Then he asks Spinelli to find another job b/c he's way to weird for this business. Then he barks "get out!" Wow, Sonny, you sure are tough around a twerp. If only you could be that manly towards actual adversaries.

Commercials

Emma's Palatial Estate: Liz helpfully makes notes of Robin's plans for the house. Robin says Patrick offered to take the day off to help, but she told him not to. Robin says she has mac and cheese in the fridge and a nice list to keep her from being overwhelmed. Robin says 'there's that word again' She says to add "find a place for the stroller and baby travel gear" Um, you fit it ALL into a 1 bedroom. I'm pretty sure this mansion will be sufficient. Robin's words trail off, and she gets flustered, so Liz suggests focusing on one room at a time. Emma's cries are heard on the monitor, but Robin asks if Liz can feed her. Liz says feeding them is the best part. Aw, Emma is the crunchy crust on a fried turkey! Robin says she needs to run errands and asks Liz to take over. Liz isn't sure b/c Emma doesn't know her that well, but Robin is already dressed for winter and leaves. When she's outside, though, it's clear she has no errands to run at all.

Jason's Penthouse: Maxie gossips that she and Spinelli had this horrible fight, and she was worried about Winnie, who she thought was weird but didn't know was an FBI agent. She says she slept with him. Jason says that doesn't even make any sense. She says it matters if you care about Spinelli's feelings. Jason tells her to stop and says any deal he made was his choice, and he's not discussing it. He tells her what Spinelli needs is her, and he tells her not to sleep with him for dumb reasons and says she needs to just be his best friend. he assures her all she needs to know is he's keeping him safe.

Corinthaus: Claud once again is playing DVD in the living room. Carly angrily enters and asks where Max and Milo are. They bicker a bit, but then Sonny shows up. Claud says Carly is here to figure out a way to get rid of Claud and get back with Sonny. Claud, you wouldn't have to keep saying and doing stupid things if you just went to your own room or even a library to watch Jerry Probst's stupid messages.

Commercials

Corinthaus: Sonny and Claud trade insults, and he tells her to beat it. She angrily says Carly's first loyalty is not to him, it's to his enemy, Jason. Then she stomps upstairs like Joanie Cunningham. Carly stares at Sonny in surprise and says that Jason is not his enemy. He won't talk about it and says they should discuss the benefit. Carly says this is a good time for Sonny and Jason to remember Chucky and the way they all used to be. Sonny mumbles those days are long gone. Her eyes well with tears of frustration and says memories are not gone, and Sonny needs to get over himself.

Crimson: Maxie is at work on the phone with Clarice and barking orders. She asks how the article comparing stock prices and skirt lengths is going. I would read that article, so I hope it's doing well. Shawn D shows up to get on Maxie's nerves. She snaps she doesn't bother him in the OR when he was trying to work. He sits and says he had fun at the wedding and wonders what she's doing on Saturday. She says she's busy. He asks what that means. She stares up at the ceiling and says in a mocking tone "Meaning...has it really been that long since a woman told you no?" She turns to shoot him a condescending eye roll. He smarms that it's actually been a really long time. She gives a very cute line delivery that the last girl didn't know what she was missing out on, but she's clearly dismissive in her tone and body language. She gives a shoulder shrug and says she's not interested. Shawn D matches her tone and says "sure ya are. Unless you are serious about Spinelli." Did I just become a Maxie/Shawn Douglas fan?

Nurse's Station: Patrick tells Piph he has to go home before the blizzard. She says his new house is across town, so he cna't just quickly run home anymore. Patrick wonders why she's stalking him, and she says it's her job to stalk all the doctors. She says Robin wants to unpack in peace, but she finally notices that Patrick is clearly upset about something. he tells her about Robin's behavior and she finally relents that he can go home. When did Piph become Chief of Staff? Not that I don't think she'd be good at it, but I thought Monica wanted that job?

Jason's Penthouse: Robin has found her way to Jason's to pretend like everything is perfectly normal in her life to him. she says she just wanted to make sure he has her new address. Because phones and email don't exist yet. She also gives Jason some pics of Jason, which makes more sense (because photobucket and snapfish also haven't been invented yet.) Jason says she's beautiful and happy and healthy. Robin's face falls, and she says she is, and she tries to be a good mom. She says she's sorry, but she doesn't know who else to talk to. Jason stares at her in concern. She finally asks "what was it like when Carly had post partum depression?"

Commercials

Jason's Penthouse: Jason gives Robin some tea. He says she noticed a problem when she was afraid to touch Michael. He took her to the nursery b/c she said she wanted to bond with him, but she couldn't do it and panicked. A few days later she came to him and said she had to leave town. Robin sets down the tee and snots that Carly abandoned her baby. Jason said Carly promised to come back, and she did. He says she was just worried she'd do something wrong and hurt him. Robin says she's nothing like Carly and isn't afraid to hold him. Jason says she's great with babies and helped him with Michael. Oh, so the writers DO remember that. Robin acts like she has it under control, but her body language indicates she doesn't. He tells her kindly that she has her own baby, and that's wonderful. She decides to blame Patrick and says he's the one who thinks she has a problem, but it's because he's a perfectionist. She brushes it off and says she just wanted to talk to someone, and she feels like everything is better. He is concerned and says he doesn't really know anything about PPD, but there are ways to get help. But she's halfway out the door and breezily says she did get help by talking to him and feels like everything is perfect. She leaves, but Jason clearly remains concerned.

Emma's Palatial Estate: Patrick shows up with flowers and asks how the most wonderful woman in the world is doing. Liz cutely stands and says she's doing great, but he's probably asking about Robin. She explains Robin ran some errands.

Oh dear, Charlie Gibson shows up to say a US Airways plan has crashed into the Hudson River. How terrible! Robin Roberts says she saw the plane. That it was flying very low. She ran onto her balcony, and the plane crashed into the water. The plane was never submerged. She could see the front door was open, and she immediately saw a water taxi heading towards the plane. Flight 1549 from La Guardia to Charlotte, NC. There were 23 people on board. There are passengers on the wing. wow, that is a crazy shot, You can see the tail of the airplane sticking out of the water, and there are ab out a half a dozen ferries surrounding the plane. Robin Roberts says the pilot managed an amazing landing. the fuselage never broke up and didn't bounce over the water. She says it was a stunning landing. They both indicate the river is quite deep in this area. Charlies says now they are not sure how many people were on board. Wow, they have a shot of the plane from a few moments ago, and it was mostly above water. It's sunk a bit now. Charlie queries if this was a bird strike. John Nance says this is called a "ditching' meaning you fly it into the water to slow it down. If nothing was breached underneath, then it's floatable for awhile.

Lisa Stark says it does seem to have been a bird strike that was large enough to register on radar. Dang, that's a LOT of birds! She confirms the plane was taking off from La Guardia, and there is no evidence of terrorist activity.

Apparently the real life equivalent of a Superjase was flying the plane and saved everyone's lives. I'm so thankful that what seemed like a terrifying story turns out to have no fatalities! Good job, people of New York for once again doing an amazing job of staying calm and being heroes!

GH Recap 1/14: Dreadening Eve

Emma's Palatial Estate: Robin and Patrick have found a house, and somehow they are able to enter it without a agent there to open the door, and she decides to buy it on the spot, and he for some reason finds this suspicious. but then he is able to determine that the house is good by just walking through it. I didn't know he was so good at assessing, regardless, Robin loves everything about the house and says weird things like it will fix everything. She says it about 15 times, but no one finds it eery. They also manage to buy the house in 4 minutes, even though it takes about an hour just to PRINT the paperwork involved, not to mention loan approval or escrow, but whatever. The good news is Liz is their neighbor and stops by to visit. Robin once again says something weird like "what did we just do" when she'd just been gushing about the decision, and Liz stares uncomfortably, as if to say "oh, I thought I smelled some Crazy" Liz later assures Robin that she knows it's hard being a mom, but if you do things one at a time, it all gets done, and that is very simplistic but remarkably true advice. She says Emma loves Robin, even if the house is messy. Robin stares distantly. Liz offers to share her snow blower and all her tools, so Liz is easily the coolest neighbor in the history of the world. of course, actually, she's the smartest b/c my guess is how that works is Patrick uses her blower and then does both of their driveways. Smart girl.

Corinthaus: Claud hangs out in Sonny's bedroom to get another bag of puzzle pieces from Jerry Probst.Kate shows up and rudely asks Claud what she's doing. Claud toys with kHate a bit and says Sonny may love kHate, but he ranks power as more important than love, and Claud gives him power, so he won't divorce her. Claud says kHate can at best hope to be is a mistress, and she's fine with that. Claud then primps in the mirror and says "The Mistress doesn't barge into the bedroom. The Mistress understands her place." heh. kHate says she'll be sure to tattle that she saw Claud searching Sonny's room. Claud flares her nostrils and begins searching the bed again.

She finds something and instead of going to her private bedroom, she runs down to the living room, and of course is once again surprised by someone. This time, it's Spinelli.

Casa de 3's a Crowd: Johnny is having money problems, but he somehow STILL has money from his security deposit from Chez Zee. Unless that was an 18,000 a month apartment, I don't see how he was able to furnish and decorate this new apartment and still have money left.

Jason's Penthouse: Jason comes home early in the morning, and Spinelli is worried b/c he rightly believes that Jason had to exchange something costly to get him out of jail. jason will only angrily tell Spinelli that he can't do anymore dangerous computer work and he angrily bellows at Spinelli when Spin presses the matter. Spinelli says Jason's outburts only proves Jason made an Unholy Alliance. Jason takes a deep breath and apologetically and sincerely says that Spinelli is a great friend, and he depends and counts on him, and he feels he took advantage. Spinelli interrupts that no one forced him to help Jason, but Jason shows his temper again and firmly says the way it is now is they don't talk about business of any kind anymore. Spinelli is bummed and leaves.

Sam's: Sam is somehow wearing an off the shoulder sweater. Her gravity defying boobs don't seem the worse for no bra, though. Sam is filling out an application to be a private eye, and Lucky manages to be a dick about even this. He throws Jerry in her face, even though Jerry was indeed a bad guy. He wants a Laura, basically, and she's a Luke. But he's neither a Luke nor a Laura, so I don't get why he thinks he gets a vote. She tells him she's fiercely independent (I don't think that word means what the idiots on this show think it means), and her job prospects are limited, and she'd hope he'd be supportive and not judgemental. Alexis shows up and can feel the tension in the room. Lucky angrily leaves and whines something about Sam and Alexis having a lot to talk about, and oh my gawd, Lucky, you are such a petty, weird dum dum. Sam and Liz's newfound friendship does have the added benefit of having taught Sam to shoot a pretty funny bitchface in Lucky's direction.

Jason's Penthouse: Jason angrily yells at Bernie on the phone and says he needs intel on the Z's as fast as possible. He breathlessly takes another call and angrily tells someone that he's home and they shouldn't come here, but he agrees to meet. Then he throws some crystal at the fireplace, so we know this is serious. Carly shows up and says she heard something break. He says he was venting. She says he doesn't vent. heh. She apologizes for not helping him set up a meeting with sonny. He says it was the right thing to not get involved. She says she had to pick Jax over them. Jason is very agitated in his voice, and movements and pacing. He says Sonny has always been his friend, but things are changing, and he doesn't know how to protect Sonny from himself and his destructive choices. Aw, I think Spinelli has rubbed off on Jason a little because he's rambling in code. And also, I think Jason has dipped into Maxie's meth stash because he can't stand still for even 3 seconds. Carly asks him to not speak in riddles, but he says he can't talk about the details and changes the subject to hear about how things are going with her and Jax. She says it's good, and she's throwing a charity function tomorrow for head injuries. She says he doesn't have to come, but he can give a lot of money. Her words are light and playful, but she's very distracted by the way Jason is clearly so distracted himself. He's only going through the motions of having a conversation, not b/c he's rude or she's boring, but because he clearly has 20 things on his mind. Her eyes get teary as realizes he's not going to let her do anything to help him, and she can't help him anyway b/c of Jax, but she can tell him that she's rooting for him and hopes everything works out for the best. Aw.

Corinthaus: Claud explains to spinelli that a confrontation is brewing between Jason and Sonny, and for now Spinelli should think of Corinthaus as the enemy camp and stay away to remain safe. Spinelli says he understands but asks her to ask Mr. Sir to call him. She says she'll ask but can't promise results.

Carly's: Looloo hangs out at Carly's and does business because magazines are totally a telecommute sort of business. I'm very pleased with how pretty Looloo and Carly's hair is looking today. Loo has come to borrow money, and Carly kindly hops right up to write a check. That's really nice. Loo says she couldn't ask Nik b/c he'd just buy her building and give it ot her. Carly says she'd have taken that offer in a heartbeat, but Loo wants to be independent. Again, maybe Port Charles should invest in a dictionary.

GH: Piph tells Johnny she can't hire him as an orderly. Johnny is learning the lesson that a recession is a crummy time to not have a job b/c there are over-qualified people out of work and looking for anything. Piph is remarkably kind and compassionate during this scene, and I'd love to see more of this side of her.

Sam's: Sam tells Alexis she's terrible at office work. Alexis cutely teases that she remembers. Sam then talks about her brush with Everyday Heroes, but since the producer left to team up with Jack Bauer, that went away too. Alexis, of course, says she doesn't have to justify. Sam says "I'm sorry, I am still in my conversation with Lucky." Heh. She says to Alexis what she wanted to say to Lucky that he's not supportive. Alexis says she's happy to help her any way she can. Sam says she expectd resistence, and Alexis assures her there is none. She says Spinelli is in trouble, and she can't help him, but she thought Sam would want to know. Sam thanks her for letting her know.

Casa de 3's a crowd: Maxie jubilantly greets Spinelli. He tells her the bad news that he believes Jason compromised himself to save Spinelli. Maxie says she's sure Spinelli had a big price tag on his head, but he's worth it, and it was Jason's decision to make. She asks if Jason told him it was handled and to stay out of it, and Spin says he did. She begs him to follow Jason's orders, for his own sake and for hers.

Casa de 3's a Crowd: I guess it's later. Loo calls the hospital for some reason b/c of Johnny's interview. Let's just ignore that it makes no sense and that Piph tells Loo that she couldn't hire Johnny b/c all that really matters is Johnny comes home and happily tells Loo that he got the job. It's never easy to deal with a lie, and Looloo sort of stammers in surprise at his news and opts to play along.

Corinthaus: Claud once again watches Jerry Probst's next bag of puzzle pieces in the living room. kHate eaveslurks from the terrace. She smirks, so we can assume she heard or saw at least a little bit of Jerry.

Jason's Penthouse: Raynor shows up and tells Jason that someone hijacked a Hallifiction truck, and Jason has to find out who did it and recover the contents. for some reason, Raynor thinks it was either Sonny or a biker gang. Um, gee, maybe it was terrorists. I know we are simply setting up Feb sweeps with this, but that was a pretty silly list of suspects. Jason thinks this will put suspicion on him of Raynor swoops in and arrests whoever did this, but Raynor tells him that he better do it in a Superjasely fashion, then.
